Curriculum
The Kelowna College of Professional Counselling is dedicated to training individuals for entry-level employment in the fields of mental health and professional counselling. The curriculum focuses on building competency and skills in core aspects of mental health.
All programs offered at KCPC meet the stringent accreditation standards of the PCTIA, the regulatory agency that oversees private colleges in British Columbia.
The curriculum was specifically designed to incorporate research, theories and techniques drawn from the disciplines of psychology, counselling and social work. Courses focus on practical skill development to meet the employment requirements of community agencies and private contractors.
Students can earn a Diploma in Applied Psychology and Counselling in one year; or complete a specialized Certificate in Applied Counselling Studies in seven months.
Students focus on increasing self-awareness and gaining knowledge and competency of skills as fundamental components in all courses.
