EDUCATION
The Kelowna College of Professional Counselling is dedicated
to training individuals in the field of professional counselling.
The Certificate or Diploma programs can be completed in
seven months to one year of classroom study or through
Distance Education. All programs offered at KCPC are fully
accredited. The curriculum incorporates the latest research,
theories and techniques drawn from the disciplines of
psychology, counselling and social work. Courses have
been specifically designed to meet the employment requirements
of community agencies and private contractors.

YOU LEARN TO BE A COUNSELLOR BY TAKING DISTANCE EDUCATION
COURSES?
Yes, There are several reasons that students may choose
to complete all or part of their course work through
Distance Education:
1)
KCPC's unique approach to distance learning gives students
the opportunity to participate in interactive exercises
designed to develop skills relevant to the course topic.
The assignments are fun and hands-on, and may include
videos, case studies, working with volunteer 'clients',
and field trips. The unique Distance Learning model
exposes students to real counselling situations which
bring text book theories to life.

Students also gain valuable skill practice by working
or volunteering a minimum of 15 hours per month in a
community agency or private clinic for the duration
of their program. This placement meets the criteria
for the Applied Skill practicum courses levels (I,II,&III).
Students also benefit from the supervision of on-staff
agency personnel in conjunction with their KCPC instructor.

Many courses include interactive projects relevant to
the student's volunteer placement. The professional
scope of these projects may be of practical relevance
to future employers.

Students network with a wide span of professionals,
instructors and other students on the online forum and
chat line. These are excellent sites for discussion,
support and friendship.

Students can work from the comfort and convenience of
their own homes. Their study schedule fits their individual
life style. Textbooks and study materials for each course
are included in the price of tuition and delivered right
to your door.
