KCPC is proud of our graduates' career successes. Many KCPC graduates find rewarding careers in counselling and related fields such as working with:
- mental health agencies
- community services
- employment agencies
- churches
- consulting with corporations, and small business
- government and EAP contracts
- online and telephone counselors
- private practice.
Although we cannot guarantee job placements, we will do everything possible to prepare students for employment, beginning with the admissions interview and continuing throughout the program.
Each student is assigned a career advisor to answer questions, discuss career opportunities and offer guidance throughout your training program.
Each course includes a segment called Tips on Marketing Job Skills. Students receive practical suggestions on how to highlight specific skills learned in the course as part of your job search. These innovative ideas help you develop your resume, prepare for interview situations, and network with other professionals.
Workshops and courses presented at the KCPC campus offer advice on:
- interview skills
- how to build a private practice
- developing your resume and brochure
- creating job opportunities.
Networking is an important part of career development . The best way to begin building a professional network is by volunteering with a counseling type facility as you proceed through your study program. You'll see first hand the workings of mental health agency, pick up relevant job experiences, and get to know other professionals in the community.
Staff and instructors support you in developing a step-by-step career plan as you progress through the program. By the time you graduate, you'll be ready to hit the ground running.
KCPC is there for you after graduation, providing periodic job postings, employment seminars, letters of reference, and support from your career advisor.
