Pastoral Counselling
Program Description:
The Certificate of Applied Counselling Studies with a specialization in Pastoral Counselling focuses on the integration of psychological theories and skills, with spiritual/ religious beliefs when counselling individuals and groups. Students use interview and assessment techniques to: identify the scope of pastoral counselling; clarify spiritual beliefs relating to the presenting problem and set appropriate goals; apply the principles of loss and grief counselling; and incorporate the philosophy of the 12 Step Programs into the pastoral counselling model. Students explore how personal belief systems impact the role of the counsellor.
