Weekend Study Program

The Kelowna College of Professional Counselling now offers the Diploma of Professional Counselling through a weekend study program designed for students who are unable to attend weekday classes.

The weekend study schedule combines the convenience of independent study with benefits of on-campus instruction.

Each course includes:

  • a weekend spent on campus for classroom instruction and the opportunity to participate in exercises designed to promote skill development.
  • an interactive class project conducted in the student's community.
  • on-line check-ins with instructors and other class members to encourage questions and discussion of course concepts.
  • independent study hours allowing students to complete reading and written assignments at home
  Notes:
(1) Courses must be completed within three weeks.
(2) A Certificate of Professional Development will be issued after each course is completed.
(3) Upon completion of all sixteen courses in the program, the Diploma of Professional Counselling is awarded.
(4) Enrollment in the weekend study program is by the trimester. Start dates beginning with the pre-requisite course are in September, January,       March, and June.

Unless restricted by student loan requirements, students may elect to transfer back and forth between the weekend and weekday programs.

This allows students to:

  • accommodate work schedules
  • take vacations
  • make-up missed courses without waiting for the yearly schedule to complete.
  • choose alternative courses from the weekday program.
